Easy onboarding & family setup
When you first sign into Medication Timer you are taken through a step by step guide to setup your family and familiarise you with the app while; setting up your family, adding common medications, adding your first as-needed timer and adding your first health reading
Easy onboarding family setup

The best medication app is the one your household actually finishes setting up. Medication Timer walks new users through family profiles, medications, a first as-needed timer, and a first health reading — so you are tracking something meaningful within minutes, not after a weekend of configuration.

First sign-in: get started in order

After you create an account on iOS, Android, or the web, setup typically guides you to:

  1. Add family members — names, relationships, and optional birth dates for growth charts later
  2. Add medications — from common presets or your own labels, with dosing notes and application method where relevant
  3. Start your first as-needed timer — see how spacing rules and daily limits work before a real sick day
  4. Log a health reading — temperature, blood pressure, or another type you use

You can skip steps and return later from Family and Medications, but the sequence mirrors how most households begin: people first, then meds, then a timer or reading.

Guided tour on mobile

On mobile, after first-time setup, a guided tour introduces:

  • Bottom navigation — Today, Care, Family, Medications
  • The Today date strip and member cards
  • Starting a Care episode — temperatures, PRN timers, courses, switching between members under care

The tour uses demo data so you can explore safely. Complete it from the launchpad or skip and use the app normally. Retake anytime from Profile → Retake tour.

The website uses Get Started instead of the same overlay tour — both paths land you in a working household.

Why onboarding matters for safety

Clear member and medication names power timers, voice commands (Siri / Google Assistant), widgets, and Watch actions. Spending five minutes on accurate labels prevents wrong-person doses later.

When you're at the doctor's office, "I think they had a fever on Tuesday" isn't as helpful as a precise data log. This feature transforms your daily tracking into comprehensive health reports that map out everything from routine medication adherence, showing exactly what was taken versus what was missed, to as-needed doses and symptom flares. By consolidating vitals like temperature and blood pressure into clear summaries, you provide clinicians with a complete, accurate picture of your family's health history.
