Dose reminders on Android are scheduled on the phone. If notifications are allowed but nothing appears at the due time, the phone is often sleeping the app or limiting background battery use.
This is especially common on Samsung Galaxy phones (sleeping apps and deep sleeping apps). Other Android brands have similar battery savers.
Samsung (Galaxy)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Battery and device care, then Battery. Some phones show Battery on the main Settings list.
- Tap Background usage limits (sometimes App power management).
- Open Never sleeping apps (or Never auto sleeping apps), tap +, and add Medication Timer.
- If Medication Timer is already listed under Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps, remove it from those lists.
On that same screen you can turn off Put unused apps to sleep if this is a phone you rely on for reminders.
Then:
- Open Settings → Apps → Medication Timer → Battery.
- Choose Unrestricted (not Optimized or Restricted).
Other Android phones
- Open Settings → Apps → Medication Timer → Battery (or Battery usage).
- Set background usage to Unrestricted, or turn off battery optimization for Medication Timer.
- Turn off Pause app activity if unused (sometimes Unused app settings).
Menu names vary by brand (Pixel, Xiaomi, Oppo, Motorola, and others). Look for sleeping apps, auto-start, or battery optimization.

- Power saving or Ultra power saving is off while you rely on reminders.
- You did not Force stop Medication Timer. That cancels pending local reminders until you open the app again.
- Quiet hours in the app, and Focus or Do Not Disturb on the phone, are not silencing alerts.
If a reminder still does not appear, open the app once around the due time so it can resync schedules. See Why didn’t my reminder appear?
