Medication Timer’s lock-screen dose reminders are local notifications. On Android they use the system Alarms & reminders permission so the phone can wake at the scheduled time (for example 8:00), not “sometime this morning.”
This is separate from the Notifications permission, which controls whether the alert can appear and make a sound. You usually need both.
Turn it on
- Open Settings → Apps → Medication Timer.
- Tap Alarms & reminders. On some phones this is under Permissions, or Settings → Apps → Special app access → Alarms & reminders.
- Allow Medication Timer to set alarms and reminders.
On Samsung, also stop the phone from sleeping the app, or reminders can still be delayed. See Why didn’t my Android reminder fire?
If you do not see the setting
The option appears on Android 12 and later. Older Android versions do not use this screen. Update Medication Timer from Google Play, then check again.
If Alarms & reminders is off, reminders may be delayed for hours or never appear while the app is in the background.
